Video: Shooting High-Key Portraits

Last week, my friend and fellow photographer Rick French stopped over to try out his new Lastolite HiLite background. Since I’ve also been really excited about the prospect of shooting more video with my Canon 5D Mark II, Rick agreed to allow me to film everything so I could turn it into a brief video tutorial.

The final video is only about 4 minutes long and I’ve included it below. This was my first attempt to produce a video with the 5D Mark II and Final Cut Express but I’m pretty happy with the result. Obviously, I have a long way to go before I shoot the sequel to Avatar but, if you stick around, I’ll be sharing more and more videos over the next few months that will, hopefully, get progressively better.

Anyway, on to the video…

I like the results that you got with a simple lighting setup.

FYI, Rick should lose the sunnies off his head – from the front, it looks like he has some wierd appendage growing from the top of his head ;-)
