Last Month in New York

I’ve finally gotten around to editing the photos I took while I was in New York last month. I actually didn’t get out to shoot as much as I would have liked but I did manage to take a few photos.

The Brooklyn Bridge

In all my visits to New York, I’ve never actually visited the Brooklyn Bridge. I don’t know why, really. It was just never on the itinerary. This time, though, I made sure to get down there on a particularly beautiful day. I’ve included a few shots, three of which are panoramas, below:

New York Subways

One of the things that I can never resist taking photos of is the New York subway system. There’s something about them that is distinctly New York. So I started a project that I hope to complete over my next few visits to New York. I want to photograph every subway entrance/station in Manhattan, perhaps even branching out to the other boros. I’ve embedded a Cooliris wall where you can browse the progress of the project thus far. You will need Flash enabled in order to view the wall below.

Great work Shawn. I love the first shot best. One of these days I’m going to make that trip and will have to pick your brain on where to go.

Thanks Marc! There’s no shortage of photo opportunities in New York. I’ve been meaning to get across the river at night to take some nice panoramas of the city but I never manage to get over there. One of these days.

Shawn – always enjoy your work… these shots make me miss NY even more. Proud to say I’ve used each of those Subway stops at least once! The top b&w of the Broolyn Bridge is a keeper for sure.

Ooooh, I like those. Great series of shots. And that opening one of the cab with the iPhone is pretty awesome as well. =)

Thanks Jerry… Oddly enough, I think the iPhone shot is my favorite out of all of them.

Very inspiring Shawn. My wife and I are making a 2 day stay there in mid-June. The best part is that there will be no kids, just the 2 of us. So I am looking forward to some great photo opportunities.

Great shots – especially like the way you have structured them into a narrative portrait of one aspect of the city.

Haha… If it’s any consolation, I didn’t actually go all the way across. There’ll be a next time. Soon, hopefully.

Geez. Sick photos, Shawn. I’m partial to Brooklyn Bridge, but they’re all legit. :)
